Introduction
Saying that broadcast news is foreign to me is an understatement. I have focused my efforts over the years on traditional print news stories and have neglected this important field of journalism. Nevertheless, I do have some experience editing videos and attempting broadcast. In college next year, I hope to take classes regarding video editing and broadcast news so that I can go into the workforce as a more well-rounded journalist.
Online News Package - JEA/NSPA Convention 2014
About: At the 2014 JEA/NSPA convention, I competed in the Online News Package category with two other editors. I was in charge of editing and shooting the video aspect of our submission. I had no experience and was most likely chosen for the job because I was the youngest of the group. Regardless, I was able to somehow figure out the editing software and upload the video in time for submission. Looking back at the video now, plenty of flaws are apparent to me. The sound is not very good quality and the visuals are decent at best. Like previously stated, I cannot pretend this is a strong suit of mine, but progress must start somewhere.

10 year football state champ anniversary
About: Although the story and interview are not by me, I created the entire video. After getting old footage from the football coach, I spent 6+ hours over a weekend cutting and editing footage so the video would be ready in time for the 10 year anniversary. I edited the footage to make it the best quality possible, but since I did not take the footage, I could only do so much. My main focus for this video was selecting, cutting, and organizing footage in a coherent manner.

Proviso West buzzer beater shot
About: After a game-winning buzzer beater shot by the opposing team, our sports editor typed up a game story for the website. At the last second, we came up with a way to make the story even better: footage of the actual shot. Within our 50 minute class period, I uploaded the footage, edited it, and posted the video onto the web. Although short, the timespan it took to finish the video shows our efforts to remain timely.
