About: This picture is an expressive shot with a great story to back it. After an amazing season, the boys' cross-country team went on to win conference by a narrow margin. This picture shows the intensity at the beginning of the varsity race when the team was not running as well as they needed to to win. I ran with the coaches from location to location on the course to try and get some shots like this one that showed emotion and expression, something that is especially hard to find when taking pictures of running.
About: Before publishing this photo, I contemplating cropping it tighter around the main subject. However, I decided against it because I believe the uncropped photo has better depth. The other runners behind her and plenty of space in front of her create this depth.
About: Not being involved in theater myself, I throughly enjoyed being able to get an inside look at the musical during one of their dress rehearsals. I believe this photo does a great job of capturing a lot of aspects of the show. The head of the conductor is in the left corner, there is a music light from one of the members of the pit in the middle and still the facial expressions of the cast can be seen clear. I worked very carefully in Photoshop to edit this picture so that all of these elements were clearly seen. To do this, I adjusted exposure, contrast, and highlights in the photo to create the finished product below.
About: One of the main things I struggled with while taking pictures at the musical was getting the right lighting. At certain times, I was getting great action shots but the lighting was too dim for it to be a usable photo. In this shot, I was able to catch perfect lighting for a great photo. One of the main aspects that I focused with on this photo was editing it correctly. Like I said previously, the biggest struggle with shooting the musical was dealing with all of the different lighting. My goal was to edit the photo so that the subject is well seen but not washed out from over exposure of the photo.
